American Cabaret Theatre Hosts Public Reception Honoring Poet Laureate Norbert Krapf

 

On Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 5:30 p.m., the American Cabaret Theatre will host a free public reception to honor Indianapolis resident Norbert Krapf as the new Indiana State Poet Laureate. The Celebration will feature poetry and jazz performances by Krapf and three os the State's most notable Jazz musicians: jazz pianist Monika Herzig, guitarist Peter Kienle and violinist Carolyn Dutton.

ACT Chief Operating Officer, Mark Kesling will also announce Krapf's premiere series titled Together Again: Music & Poetry.

Norbert Krapf, a native of Jasper, Indiana, is a graduate of St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Notre Dame. Since 1976, he has written or edited 21 books, including two German translations. Norbert was selected as Indiana's Poet Laureate by the Indiana Arts Commission from a field of 19 poets. Krapf now represents the State of Indiana and the art of poetry through the development and implementation of programming to the education community and general public.
